Black Friday - Missing Out
On Thursday night I was jumping from Best Buy to Circuit City to Staples and other sites left and right. What was I doing? I was checking out the deals that I may take advantage of the following morning. I then recalled reading about a black friday site and how great and easy it made sorting all of the deals. I proceeded to search for the name “bfads” as that was all I could recall.
I did my search for “bfads” in hopes of finding bfads and up came Bfads.com. I, like most people went to Bfads.com only to find a very 1998 looking site. Upon the page loading I then saw the disclaimer on the site:
Who knew it that the site I wanted was bfads dot net and not bfads dot com? Well I certainly didn’t know and thought I had typed in the wrong name.
I read the disclaimer and proceeded onto the bfads.net that I had been looking for. After the encounter with the site I was left wondering why Bfads.com didn’t do more to sell me on their services. Even now I am still unsure what Bargain Finders is or what they do but I do know they do a poor job of explaining it. The fact that they make no use of the free traffic and I imagine the traffic they got was very large makes me wonder.
Why doesn’t Bfads.com monetize the traffic better? How can there be an entire domain business centered around type ins, misspellings, and typos and this company not get it? Perhaps they will simply sue - it has happened before.
In the case of Utube vs. YouTube you find Utube doing what it can to monetize the large amounts of traffic. I don’t know if I agree with how they are doing it but I assume they have tried many things and what they have now is doing well for them. I haven’t heard much about this story as of late but you can read up on it here, here, and here to start.
Now those cases aren’t the same but it still makes you think. What would you do with all that free traffic?
My offer to Bfads.com is to send it to me next year so I can monetize it
Also for next year I will be sure to check out bfads.net and dime to save in advance for deals. If anyone happens to have found any other Black Friday sites please let me know so I can check them out as well.
